Unit of Measure (UoM)
A Unit of Measure (UoM) defines the standard quantity in which an item is measured, purchased, stored, or sold.
A list of common UoMs is provided by ERPNext. However, additional UoMs can be defined to meet business needs.
1. Key Features
UoMs that are predefined: By default, units such as kilogrammes, meters, pieces, and litres are included.
Custom UoMs: New units can be created based on your operational requirements.
Whole Number Restriction: Fractional values (such as 1.5 pieces) cannot be used in transactions involving a UoM if the Must be Whole Number feature is enabled for that UoM.
2. UoM Conversion
The UoM document itself only contains the unit name.
Another document called UoM Conversion Factor contains the conversion factors between different UoMs.
Conversion Factor.
Example:
1 kilogramme is equal to 2.2 pounds.
The UoM Conversion Factor table contains information about this particular relationship.
3. Adding a New UoM

Home > Stock > Settings > Unit of Measure
Enter the name of UoM and click New.
