Shift Request
Shift Request
Using ERPNext's Shift Request functionality, employees can ask for a certain kind of shift for a certain period of time.
1. Prerequisites
You need to set up the following records in the system before you can ask for a shift to make sure that everything goes as planned and the proper individual is assigned:
employment: The worker must have an up-to-date employment record in the system in order to change their shift. It should be easy to access information like the department, branch, and staff status.
Shift Type: The type of shift you choose (morning, evening, or night), the hours the system is open, the timetable, and any additional rules that apply, like break periods or overtime, should already be set up.

2 How To Place Shift Request
To ask for a new shift in ERPNext, just do the following:
Click New on the Shift Request List page to make a new request.
Choose who has to work the shift.
Choose the right sort of shift.
This could be any shift that has already been listed in the Shift Type master.
Fill in the From Date and To Date columns to find out how long the shift is.
The algorithm then adds up all of the days that people worked throughout this time, based on how the shift is set up.
Send the request to the correct person so that it can be accepted.
If the user is not allowed to accept or deny the request, ERPNext gives them the "Submit" privilege and sends the Shift Request document to the right approver.
*To save the request, click "Save."
The system automatically makes the employee's Shift Assignment record after the shift request is approved and sent in. The shift description uses the requested dates.
This change affects scheduling, keeping track of attendance, and any other payroll calculations that need to be made.

3. Setting up the Approver for Shift Requests
A shift request approver is someone who can say yes or no to an employee's request for a shift.
ERPNext enables you make Shift Request Approvers at two levels so you have more freedom and control:
4. The Department's Level of Shift Request
You can designate approvers for each department straight from the Department master.
A lot of people in a department can accept requests without having to wait for a certain person to be off.
If an employee asks for a shift in a certain department, the system will automatically make the departmental approvers the default approvers.
How many workers there are:The employee master may even choose a worker directly to approve a shift request.
When a single manager or supervisor needs to approve all shift changes for a certain employee, no matter how the department is set up, this is helpful.
If there are both departmental and employee-level approvers for shift requests, the employee-level approver would be the first one to decide.
In this situation, ERPNext will establish the* employee-level approver* as the default to make sure that the approval flow is right for the business and meets its needs.
